Manjal vaada

Manjal vaada

This is the most famous snacks in south tamil nadu(Tiruchendur, kayalpatnam...). My favourite one. Whenever i visit  my native,it's a must have dish.As it's quarantine time I can't go to my native to eat it and i am craving for this one now. So i learnt the secret recepie from my cousin and wanted to share this amazing recepie to everyone.

Today I made with Masi(type of fish) for stuffing. We can also use prawn or chicken

Ingredient
Rice flour -1 cup
Grated coconut- 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder- 2tbspn
Boiled rice- 1/4 cup
Salt- as required
Water - as required(1 1/2 cup)
Oil - as required

For stuffing
Onion -2 medium size
Grated coconut -1/4 cup
Chilli powder -2 tbspn
Maasi- 2-3tbspn
Salt- as required
Onion - 2tbspn
Steps
1. First we need to knead the dough. To make a dough, need to grind boiled rice with turmeric powder.
2. For a dough, add rice flour, grated coconut, grinded mixture, salt, turmeric powder and add some water to make a smooth dough.
3. Rest it for 1 hour, then make a small ball and roll  the dough in wet cotton cloth and press gently by finger like below.

4. Put stuffing above the rolled dough and cover it with rolled dough.
5. Fry it with medium flame. Flip the other side and cook until golden color.

For stuffing
1. Heat the tawa and add 2 tbspn of oil.
2. Add onion and green chilli and saute them till onion turns golden brown.
3. Add masi , chilli powder, salt, and coconut and saute them for 2 mins.

Note : if you couldn't get Masi you can make this with prawn/chicken and follow the same process. For prawn/chicken, should add ginger garlic paste and tomato to taste.
